HPV stands for human papillomavirus, which is a very common virus that infects nearly everyone at some point. There are many different strains of the virus, each identified by a number. Persistent infection with a subset of about 13 so-called ‘high-risk” sexually transmitted HPVs, including types 16 and18, may lead to the development of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), and/or anal intraepithelial neoplasia (AIN). HPV 16 and HPV 18 are responsible for most HPV-related cancers. HPV infection is a necessary factor in the development of nearly all cases of cervical cancer.
Hytest offers a wide spectrum of monoclonal antibodies specific to the oncoprotein E7 of 'high-risk' HPV types 16
(Cat. # 3HP16)
and 18
(Cat. # 3HP18). These MAbs can be used in routine sandwich-type immunoassays.
