BNP and NT-proBNP are widely accepted biomarkers of heart failure. However, we still do not fully understand their complex behavior when using these biomarkers for heart failure diagnostics. In addition, implementation of new therapeutics has brought an additional layer of complexity when interpreting the results of diagnostic tests.
HyTest researchers have written a review “Analytical issues with natriuretic peptides – has this been overly simplified?” which summarizes the recent advances in understanding of the complexity of the natriuretic peptide system and discusses related analytical issues.
