Supporting the dogs of Finnish Customs

29.09.2016

HyTest is supporting Finnish Customs by sponsoring its dogs. The dog we sponsor is called Jessi, a two year old Labrador retriever who specializes in finding drugs. She lives in Turku and when on duty you can often find her working away either in the harbor or at the airport.

Finnish Customs

Finnish Customs has approximately fifty dogs who are trained to find drugs, large quantities of cigarettes or money. Dogs have extremely sensitive noses and are able to work efficiently in diverse and often difficult conditions. This makes them the ideal partners for the Customs officers and they help Finnish Customs to prevent the smuggling of illegal and dangerous substances.

Whilst Finnish Customs is a publicly funded organization, individuals, organizations and companies can donate money to help cover some of the costs that arise from buying, training and maintaining the dogs. This enables Finnish Customs to keep more dogs working at airports, harbors and border crossing stations.
